Where's the press and Snoop Dogg?
Does Snoop Dogg not care about white people? Where is Jesse Jackson? Where is the public outrage and media atention? A man is scheduled to be executed early tomorrow morning in California, and I have seen hardly any coverage about it at all. There haven't been any movies made about this guy like there were about Tookie Williams. I don't see the hollywood types rallying behind Clarence Ray Allen. Perhaps if he had co-authored some childrens books, hollywood would care.
Are the "civil rights" types not concerned because Clarence Ray Allen is not black? I fail to understand why there's such a difference in the way these two cases are being handled. Why would a cold blooded murderer like Tookie Williams get the sweetheart treatment in the press and Hollywood, but this Clarence Ray Allen guy doesn't? Is it because the cliche "oppressed black man, wrongly accused" angle is easier to play up? Is it because that gets more ratings and is more marketable? If so, that's pretty sad.
Tookie Williams and Clarence Ray Allen have a lot in common, so I'm a bit puzzled about why nobody is making such a fuss over his execution. (Actually, I'm puzzled why Williams' execution got SO MUCH press. Neither are noteworthy in my opinion.)
They both:
- Killed people (actually Tookie personally gunned people down, Clarence Allen hired people to kill his son's girlfriend and witnesses who testified against him at the trial)
- Ran criminal enterprises (Tookie - the Crips; Allen - burglary/crime ring)
- Continued to conduct criminal activity while behind bars
- Are despicable excuses for human beings
I don't have much time to rant about the issue at the moment, but you get the gist (sp?) of what I'm saying. Criminals should not be made into heroes. They should be punished according to the law for their actions, be they black, white, brown, yellow or otherwise. I just bring it up so that you can take notice of how differently the cases were handled. You decide. That's all I have to say about that (for the moment).

I think more people should be executed for heinous crimes, rather than let them sit on death row for decades. Accelerate the appeals process and quit making it a game. If you have grounds for an appeal, you can accomplish this in a matter of a couple of years - not decades. It's just a game for these jackasses to screw the system.
Personally, I make a strong distinction between fictional characters (Tony Montana, Tony Soprano, Vito Corleone, etc.) and real life murderers. I don't include them in the same category. Glorifying real murderers is absurd. Promoting fictional characters for the sake of entertainment is fine by me.
I love The Sopranos.
I love The Godfather Trilogy.
I love Scarface.
Those are some of the best movies/dramas of all time. Masterfully done, and timeless classics. You forgot Goodfellas though. :)

Are you fucking kidding me? No really. I'm a drug dealer in real life, but it's cool cause I'm not a user. If I don't sell it to them, somebody else will. Never get high on your own supply.
Uhh...o...k...?
Wandering aimlessly thru the blogs has lead me to yours, thank you for the interesting read.
